ZTL Zone — Limited Traffic Area Warning

Sauze d'Oulx operates a ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) — a restricted traffic zone in the village centre. Entry is monitored by cameras on roads including Via Clotes and Via Monfol.

  • • Restricted hours: 10:00–13:00 and 16:30–20:00 (winter and summer seasons)
  • • Entering the ZTL without authorisation during restricted hours results in an automatic fine.
  • If your accommodation is inside the ZTL, you must register your vehicle licence plate with your hotel or apartment host in advance — they will arrange an exemption. Do not assume you can drive in without doing this.

Always confirm the current ZTL hours and exemption process with your accommodation provider before you arrive.

Winter Driving Tips

Snow chains or winter tyres

Italian law requires snow chains to be carried in the vehicle or winter tyres to be fitted when driving in mountain areas during winter. Check current requirements before travel.

Check road conditions

The A32 is generally well-maintained and gritted, but the road from Oulx to resort can become icy. Check ANAS (the Italian road authority — stradeanas.it) for current conditions.
