Getting to Sauze d'Oulx by Train
Oulx is the nearest train station to Sauze d'Oulx. It sits on the Turin–Bardonecchia–Lyon international rail line, making it accessible from Turin by train in under an hour. From Oulx station, the resort is approximately 10km up the mountain.
Train from Turin
- 1Take a train from Turin Porta Nuova station towards Bardonecchia.
- 2Alight at Oulx station. Journey time approximately 45–60 minutes depending on the service.
- 3From Oulx station, turn left out of the exit and take Bus Line 285 (operated by Arriva Piemonte / Extra.To) up to Sauze d'Oulx — approximately 10km, around 10–15 minutes. Buy your ticket inside the station café or tobacco shop before boarding to avoid a €1 surcharge for buying on board. Last bus: 19:45 weekdays, 19:15 Sundays/holidays. From Turin Airport by Bus + Train
Turin Airport (TRN) has no direct train to Oulx, but a reliable two-leg journey via Porta Nuova is straightforward:
- 1 Take the Arriva bus from the airport to Turin Porta Nuova station. Buses run every 15 min (weekdays/Sat) or every 30 min (Sun/holidays). Journey ~45–50 min. - 2 Cross the road from the bus stop into Porta Nuova station. Take the regional train to Oulx (destination Bardonecchia). Journey approximately 45–60 minutes. Remember to validate your ticket before boarding.
- 3 At Oulx station, turn left and take Bus Line 285 (Arriva Piemonte / Extra.To) to Sauze d'Oulx (~10–15 min). Buy your ticket at the station café or tobacco shop — €1 surcharge if bought on board. Total journey from airport: approximately 2–2.5 hours. Less practical with large amounts of ski equipment — consider a pre-booked transfer in that case.
🌿 Why take the train?
The train is the most environmentally friendly option and avoids the motorway completely. It's also stress-free — no parking, no traffic. However, it's less practical if you're travelling with a lot of ski equipment. Consider using local hire equipment (save on luggage) and travelling train-only.
